The organic layers were washed with additional 1N lithium chloride, brine (saturated sodium chloride) and dried over calcium sulfate (CaSO4). Concentration in vacuo gave 363 mg of light brown oil which was flash chromatographed (30-50% ethyl acetate in hexanes) to give a white solid, 108 mg. 1H-NMR (CDCl3, 400 MHz) d 7.44 (1H, d), 7.37 (1H, s), 7.12 (1H, dd), 3.93 (2H, t), 3.43 (2H, s), 3.01 (2H, t).
