To a suspension of Intermediate 36 (100 mg, 0.24 mmol, 1 .0 eq) in CH2CI2 (10mL) was added thiomorpholine-1-oxide hydrochloride (112 mg, 0.72 mmol, 3.0eq) and sodium acetate (59 mg, 0.72 mmol, 3.0 eq). The reaction mixture washeated to reflux for 2 h, cooled to rt and sodium triacetoxyborohydride (102 mg,0.72 mmol, 2.0 eq) added in one portion. After 16 h at rt, the reaction mixture was partitioned between water (10 mL) and CH2CI2 (15 mL). The aqueous phase was re-extracted with CH2CI2 (2 x 15 mL) and the combined organics were dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo.
