Octanol-water partition coefficients (P) were determined for 42 simple nitroimidazoles with Me, Cl, Br, MeO, NH2, and NO2 substituents. Correlation between log P and the substituent constants πX of Hansch and fX of Nys-Rekker was derived. For the N-methylated compounds, the average value of πN-CH3 was calculated to be -0.30.
